London - Surrey Cycle Classic

Rode the route for the London Surrey cycle classic today. Its the test event for the Olympics next summer. Same route/course just fewer laps up box hill this year. They are going to pull out all the stops for the race, full road closures along the entire route all day long. Gonna be an absolute nightmare on traffic, but should be good for the race.

They have had these signs up for weeks along the route, they even have posted them on walking trails that go across the race route, not sure how they are going to enforce no walking.
Gonna be hard to get many spectators to come watch if you have to arrive by teleportation or magic carpet.

I am interested to see how it all goes down. There have been a few big names confirm their attendance for this years race, but I am sure we won't see half the strength of field that will toe the line for next years race. I predict that they will be surprised with how difficult it will be. Lots of ups and downs on old narrow roads, gonna be tough. Mark it down now, I am writing off sprinters completely and say that anyone weighing more than 160 has no chance.. Gonna be someone like Chavanel or Gilbert, or even an Evans or Contador, if anyone is willing to put a little wager on it.

Super excited to see the race, that and the tour of Britain in September, will have two races with European pros within a mile of our flat in less than a month.
