Diamond Jubilee Concert

After yesterday's river pageant, we pretty much gave up on the idea of going to see the concert on Monday night, (and for that matter the carriage procession on Tuesday)  Looking back, or watching it on TV it was the right decision for sure.  Take all the people that were on the river on Sunday and smash them into 1 km of the Mall and part of St. James park and well it just too much for me to handle.  Add in the rain and you would have had to drink alot to make that a good time.  There were some conflicting reports as to the numbers of people who attended, but ballpark 250,000 for both days.
Lots of people
Anyway, the concert was, I guess interesting says it best.  I don't know who half the people were, and had never heard of half the songs, but it seemed like all the Brits knew what was going on and were singing along.

No idea who or what this lady is!!!  Looked like a mix
between Dionne Warwick and the scary lady in View to a
Kill.  She hula hooped through her entire performance.

They did close out with Elton John, and Paul McCartney so at least it finished good.  Not to mention the great fireworks display, which sounded like they were in our backyard.  They also projected video on the front of Buckingham Palace, which may have been my favorite part.

Looking back I kinda wish that we had something that everyone rallied around like the Queen.  I think we take the 4th of July for granted as it comes around every year.  Maybe it was the extra vacation day that got everyone into the mood but nonetheless it worked.  Everything everywhere was Jubilee related and geared toward the Queen.

The women in the wigs average age was north of 60
