Biscuit Acres

The girls (all 3 and I went to Biscuit Acres) this morning, and all I can say is wow.  Biscuit Acres is the dog park within Hunter Park (between Yale and Sheridan off of 91st St.).  Hunter Park itself wasn't much to write about especially compared to the multitude of incredible and massive parks in London, but the dog park itself was outstanding.  It had been open for awhile before we left, but had made some pretty impressive strides since then.  Seemed like it had everything that you could need or want, and all the dogs were have a great time.  Not sure where the funding is coming from but they seem to be doing pretty well.

It was Windsors first dog park experience, and she seemed to be having a great time.  They both put on quite a show for everyone there, and of course were everyone's favorites.

I can't tell if Windsor was digging in the water bowl or just liked splashing.  10 seconds after you filled it up she would empty it for you.  She kept me pretty busy filling it up over and over again.

Furry Friday

Well since I have been home its been pretty much me and the girls all day everyday.  Going as many places together as possible (fyi Lowes is dog friendly but Home Depot is not).  No matter how excited they are to leave the house or go wherever is in store, they only make it about 5 min in the car before they are both out like a light.

Kinda makes me jealous.  I would like to take a nap too.

The Shawshank Redemption

I just finished watching the Shawshank Redemption for what has to be at least the 100th time.  And I don't mean that it was just on the TV in the background while I was doing my taxes or reading the newspaper, I mean actually watched it.  It has to be one of a very few movies that I can stand to watch more than a couple of times.  In that category with Braveheart, Apollo 13, Star Wars IV-VI, Tin Cup and Christmas Vacation.
I got to thinking what about it makes it interesting time and again.  All the others have something that I could point to.......epic fight scenes, an incredible true story, comedy and golf ('you just threw that in the spa').  I can't quite figure out what draws me in.  Maybe I am the only one, but I doubt it.  My only thought is that deep down we all see a little bit of Andy Dufresne in ourselves.  That everyone wants to believe that with all the little things they have to put up with in life it will all turnout in the end.  While our 500 yards of shit is only figurative, we all dream about that beach and blue water of Zihuatanejo, and living out our days without a care in the world.
If there is a better answer I don't know what it is.  If you have never seen it or haven't watched it in awhile, do yourself a favor and write yourself a reminder.

Hell maybe I just have a thing for Morgan Freeman's voice??

Furry Friday

This Furry Fiday brought to you by Windsor the Destroyer, and the Dyson Animal vacuum cleaner, you can't have one without the other.

Windsor is in full on teething mode now, and finding out just what her adult dog teeth are capable of.  This was the aftermath of a roll of toilet paper.
Anytime that dog is out of sight you can guarantee that some paper somewhere is getting destroyed.  Luckily she doesn't seem to have an affection for anything else, but she does make quite a mess.  Its also funny to see what she manages to take back into her kennel.  Once every couple of days you have to clean it out because she has a huge collection of napkins and paper towels in there.  Seems she is very fond of her handy work and likes to keep trophies.

Otherwise everything is great and the girls get along fantastic.  Hampton seems to be pretty tired of the incessant biting and playing, and most of the time just looks at Windsor as if to say "seriously this again?", but she has been the best big sister and puts up with it.  When they are sleeping its just about as cute as it gets.

Leaving London

Its been a strange couple of days.  I'm a bit shocked with it all to be honest with you.  Not shocked like walk into a glass door shocked but more like things that make you go hmmm shocked.   For those not in the loop I waived goodbye to London on Saturday morning.  721 days from when we began the adventure now writing the final chapter.

I remember one of the very first days thinking 'Wow I live in London" ad had a similar thought handing in the keys to our flat, "Wow can believe I've been living in London."  Other than Stillwater its really the only other hometown I've ever had, and now its 5,000 miles away.

The bit that I never really got over was no matter what differences there were, and there were alot. the majority of the time there was really no difference to actual life there vs. Tulsa, or really anywhere.  We all still get dressed the same way in the morning, and the sun always rises in the east.

I didn't expect it but was pretty emotional leaving.  Kinda like that last day of school when the nostalgia of it all sneaks up on you and people who you really weren't that close to end up being your best friends.  All the little things fade away super fast and you are left with the good times and good friends.

I am sure I will look back in 10 years and will have just about forgot everything that wasn't captured in photos or on the blog.  Maybe I will get inspired and try to memorialize it all in a book or something.  I guess time will tell.  In the meantime we will keep things going and pass on the exciting bits from Tulsa.  I imagine that the % of dog related posts will increase exponentially.

Furry Friday

I ran into this road out on a bike ride this week.

I looked around in hopes of seeing hundreds of corgi's all over the street.  I don't think that it was named for the same type of 'cardigan' I was thinking about.

Here are a couple of recent pics of the girls back home.

London Harry Potter Tour

Another mystery post that I am not quite sure what happened to....As I am getting ready to move its a bit like cleaning out the closet and finding all the lost Christmas presents and 1 random glove.  Anyway, before the last Harry Potter movie we went on a tour around London to see all the places that they had used in the first movies, before they had everything built on the movie lot.  If you are Harry Potter buff you will probably recognize them all, and if you aren't you probably wont have a clue.

Cecil Court, just off of Charing Cross Road, is the real Diagon Alley.
This is along Scotland Place, and used as the visitors entrance to the Ministry of Magic

Underneath this bridge was the Leaky Cauldron.  Exterior shots were done here just around the corner from Borough Market.
The blue door of this opticians was imposed into the previous location as the door of the Leaky Cauldron.

Just around the corner from the blue door is Leadenhall market.  Its been around for over 100 years!  The market has been used for the exterior shots of Diagon Alley in the movies.

And the last stop and probably the easiest recognised is at King's Cross rail station. It has appeared in every Harry Potter film as it is the starting point on the journey to Hogwarts via the Hogwarts Express which departs from Platform 9 3/4.
They did however need to renumber the actual platforms 4 and 5, as platforms 9 and 10 are not next to each other.  I guess the station isn't unhappy with the extra publicity as they graciously installed a platform 9 3/4 for people to take pictures at.  There was a 5 minute line just to get a picture taken.

Obviously there is alot of computer work done behind the scene, but was still fun to see, and found some nice places that we would have never known of otherwise.

Signs

The funniest part about this is thinking how many times people must have smashed into the window before they went about making the sign.

Furry Friday........Introducing.........

Notzmo's God Save the Queen
Windsor was born on April 7th from Somerset-Notts Turbo Trucker and Paradiddle Arylan Summer Sonnet.  Turns out she is Turbo's niece.  Kristen says that looking back in the rearview mirror, she looks just like her Aunt.

I am sure there are going to be alot of exciting Furry Friday's in the coming weeks.

Weird food

There may be more posts about strange food than anything else on this blog.  A trip to the grocery store is always a few laughs and leaves me scratching my head alot.  Check this one out.....
Seriously?  I must be missing something because that just sounds horrible.  I had to look up burdock, it is......a biennial thistle.  I think it sounds even worse now than it did before.
